Welcome to Motley Junction
Started this layout in the loft in 2016. A 4 foot x 2 foot scenic area with a 4 foot fiddle yard each side. The scenic area will be a station with passing loop, goods yard, engine shed with turntable. It will also have overhead wires on the mainline and 3rd rail, on the branch, so anything can run.. 80% complete as of November 2018.
MOTLEY PRESERVED RAILWAY. A through station named Nothing in the Dip.
First efforts to see if the theory measurements work. It’s tight, but they do. 3 non-corridor coaches or two Mark 1’s or three short mainline coaches including a Buffet car. Spaced the track for the overhead gantries – Tri-ang type.
Platforms in and back scene (second hand), Tri-ang over head wires to follow. On the wall, card platform, in the middle Dapol platforms with ash felt middle
The overhead wires will be added. We are getting there!
As of November 2018. Now has two steam engine sheds. Both old Airfix/Dapol examples. Tri-ang Ivatt 2's.
Left side fiddle yard with 3rd rail and overhead wires..
Right hand fiddle yard. the turntable is Airfix/Dapol. Needs a lot more work, but it's functional. The track is dry ballasted. The underlining brown is dried tea.
Dry ballast done. Grey for most of it and black for the yard.
Diesel shed. Looking at top right of the picture I need another Peco background sheet to finish the fiddle yard.
Tri-ang 3 car EMU on the 3rd rail branch line.
Very old Tri-ang cars. In the background the Cl 81, the EMU and the tender of an Ivatt 2 await their next turns.
